Ceremonial Groundbreaking Marks Milestone for New Sheffield Elementary Campus

The Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District held a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, November 10, celebrating the start of construction at Sheffield Elementary's new campus location at Kelly Blvd. and Timberglen Road in Dallas, TX.

The new building is part of CFBISD's 2018 $350 million Bond project and will replace the current Sheffield Primary and Intermediate campuses. Currently being developed by Jackson Construction and designed by the architectural firm LPA, the project includes building one new school for all K-5 students on the existing Intermediate campus site. It is expected to be completed in the summer of 2022.

The new Sheffield Campus will include:

Improvements

  • Collaboration rooms
  • New marquee
  • Landscaping improvements

Safety and Security

  • Access control and cameras at selected exterior doors
  • Bollards and hardened shell at the main entry
  • Fire sprinkler system upgrades
  • Secure entry vestibule

Technology

  • Secure and climate-controlled server space at each campus
  • Cabling
  • Wireless upgrades
  • Phone system upgrades

Dr. John E. Chapman III, CFBISD Superintendent of Schools, thanked all who supported the project and said CFBISD's groundbreaking represents a new chapter for Sheffield Elementary.

“We are excited about the new Sheffield Elementary School and the educational opportunities it will provide to our students to explore, learn, and grow,” said Dr. Chapman. “Thank you to our community for making this project possible.”

People who symbolically broke ground included Dr. John E. Chapman, Ahveance Jones, Principal of Sheffield Elementary and school board trustees, including Sally Derrick, Tara Hrbacek, Guillermo Ramos and Randy Schackmann.

Sheffield Elementary serves more than 900 students each year at two campus locations in Carrollton. The Sheffield staff and teachers continue to strive daily to promote an exceptional learning environment for elementary students at its campus.

The students of Sheffield Elementary are fortunate that our community voters share this passion for quality schools by voting to approve our bond referendum to provide the tools and facilities our students and teachers need to succeed.
